A 58 year-old Wakefield man has been flown to Nelson Hospital with a serious back injury following a forestry accident in the Motueka Valley.

St John team manager Jon Leach said today the man was airlifted to hospital by the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter in a stable condition, after a tree fell on him while he was working in the forest.
