Crowds gathered to watch the Twisty Twinz teach all ages to get bendy at a circus workshop held at the inaugural Tui Summer Festival.

International circus performers the Twisty Twinz were among 50 volunteers who helped raise money for Tui Community one year after floods wiped out their primary food garden and several bridges.

"We love teaching and twin-spiring people," said Jola Siezen, who performs with her sister, Nele.

About 300 people attended the festival, held at Wainui Bay, Golden Bay.

Festival co-organiser Aralyn Doiron said she was thrilled with the day.

"I think it's been really stellar. It's gone beyond my expectations. It's heart-warming to see this land being used and appreciated," she said.
