SAME AGAIN: The former Nelson Hotel at the corner of Bridge and Collingwood Street has reverted to its previous name of the Royal Hotel.

The Nelson Hotel has a new owner and an old name, reverting to its previous name of Royal Hotel.

The pub, on the corner of Bridge and Collingwood Streets, has been taken over by former manager Richard Smith, and will have a new focus on local craft beers.

Mr Smith took over on January 22, and plans to officially open under the new name in a fortnight.

He plans to stock beer from the Mussel Inn, Moa, and Lighthouse brands.
