Police remain frustrated after six unsecured vehicles in Annesbrook were broken into last night. Cash and other items were stolen from the vehicles.
A police spokesman said it was particularly annoying that some people had heard noises at the time but had not called police.
Last week police issued a public warning that there had been a spike in car thefts in the Nelson and Stoke area.
Acting Nelson Bays area commander Inspector Ross Lienert said last week there had been 95 thefts from cars reported so far this year - double what police would normally expect.
