The man charged over the rape of a woman in Nelson's Victory community gardens has been remanded without plea until May.
Hilton Hone Heke, 22, a fisheries worker, appeared briefly in the Nelson District Court this afternoon.
He was remanded in custody until May 1 while reports are collected.
He faces faces four charges of sexual violation, one charge of unlawful detainment, one charge of injuring with intent, one charge of aggravated injuring and one charge of indecent assault.
They relate to the attack on a 62-year-old volunteer in the Victory community gardens on New Year's Day.
