Wannabe local politicians have the opportunity to find out what's involved.
The Tasman District Council and the Nelson City Council are holding briefings for those considering standing in the October elections.
The TDC will host sessions this week to provide information about the role and business of the council and what the mayor, councillors and community board members do. It will also outline the election process, including information about nominations and campaigning.
Two sessions will be held tomorrow - one at the Motueka Service Centre at 3pm, and the other at the council chambers in Richmond at 5pm. On Friday, another meeting will be held at the Takaka Bowling Club at 11am.
The Nelson City Council will hold its session on Wednesday, July 31, at 5.30pm at the council chambers.
