A Blenheim woman in her 60s has been airlifted to hospital after an accident at Rainbow Ski Area.

Nelson Marlborough rescue Helicopter pilot Tim Douglas-Clifford said the woman was flown to Wairau Hospital in Blenheim about 5.10pm today.

She had head injuries and concussion after an accident on the skifield, he said.

He was not able to say how serious the woman's injuries were. Her identity is not yet known.

The skifield is near St Arnaud on the edge of the Nelson Lakes National Park.
