A 44-year-old man was airlifted to Nelson Hospital this morning after being struck by a falling tree.
The man had been felling trees on a private property on Grassmere Rd, between Seddon and Ward.
The tree landed on his leg, causing serious injury, according to a spokesman for the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter.
The incident happened shortly before 10am.
Ambulance crews from Blenheim initially treated the man at the property and he was treated further on board the helicopter by an intensive care paramedic.
Seddon chief fire officer Keiron Hebberd said he sent one fire crew to the incident, but had little further detail early this afternoon.
