An elderly woman who was pinned between two cars at Nelson Airport has been treated for moderate chest injuries and discharged from hospital.

The 75-year-old woman was in the drop-off/pick-up passenger zone of the domestic terminal when a car reversed into her and then smashed into another car.

Initial reports from police said the woman was trapped under the vehicle but managed to free herself before emergency services arrived.

Emergency services were phoned about 12.30pm.
