Logging worker dies in crush accident

A 28-year-old man has died after being pinned between two trees in a logging accident. 

A police spokesperson said the accident happened at a private forestry site off Foxhill Cemetery Rd, south of Nelson at about midday.

Initial inquiries have revealed the man had been working alone on a hauler.

A colleague discovered him pinned between two logs.

Emergency services attended the scene and performed CPR but he died at the scene. 

Victim Support was assisting the other workers who were present.

An accident investigation is under way.
