Nelson food business Elizabeth Catering has closed.

The company has a shop in Waimea Rd called The Bakers Inn, does catering at Club Waimea in Richmond, and supplies other outlets.

Its phone has a message saying that due to unforeseen circumstances, the business is no longer operating, including The Bakers Inn. A notice on the shop door tells customers the business will not be reopening.

The company, started in 2006, is owned by Stoke couple Phil and Beryl Thorn. Their daughter Julie-Anne has been fielding calls but refused to comment when contacted by The Nelson Mail and hung up.

Club Waimea manager John Hewison said yesterday he could not talk about the matter, as it could end up in court. He declined to comment further.

It is understood that the club's directors met yesterday.
