Serious injuries after truck and car collide in Hope

Emergency services attend the scene of a crash on Pugh Rd, Hope on Tuesday morning.

Two people have been injured after a truck and car collided near Nelson.

St John ambulance shift manager Marlon Glew said the elderly woman and man sustained serious injuries and were both were taken to Nelson Hospital for treatment.

Police were notified of the crash at around 10.40am on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Pugh Rd and Ranzau Rd West.

Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade senior station officer Nigel Lammas said hydraulic equipment was required to cut the two occupants from the SUV vehicle.

The driver of the truck was understood to be uninjured.

Two fire engines from Richmond and one from Appleby attended the crash, along with two St John ambulances.

The road is currently blocked off at the accident scene while tow trucks remove both vehicles.
