Body found in harbour
The body of a man found floating off D'Urville Island is thought to have come from a yacht moored in Greville Harbour.
The circumstances of the death did not appear suspicious, police said today.
The body, of an "older man", was discovered about 3.30pm yesterday by a couple who had moored their yacht in the harbour.
It is thought the man had been on a second yacht that was moored 100 metres away. The couple managed to pull the body from the water into a dinghy and secured it until police arrived on a Coastguard launch, police said.
Nelson Volunteer Coastguard president Mark Rumsey confirmed this morning that a recovery crew was dispatched to Greville Harbour on the 9.5m vessel Nelson Rescue at about 6pm yesterday. Police returned to Nelson with the body early today.
Inquiries are continuing to establish the identity of the man and a post mortem examination will be conducted today.
