Dollops of relieving rain have created enough of a buffer for Tasman district to postpone yesterday's scheduled Dry Weather Taskforce meeting.
The Tasman District Council had issued a ''conserve water'' notice prior to Christmas.
Environment and planning manager Dennis Bush-King said today the Wairoa River was running at a healthy 12 cubic metres a second, and most of the district's groundwater levels were rising.
''We will be monitoring the situation over summer but at this stage we have a good buffer.''
