Bargains, entertainment and the joys of shopping in central Nelson without the hassles of cars is on offer again this Saturday with the annual Trafalgar Street Market Day.

The event is a Uniquely Nelson promotion and spokeswoman Cathy Madigan said the day is always a huge day of shopping bargains, entertainment and fun for the whole family.

More than 80 stalls with everything from clothes, food, arts and crafts, jewellery, sculptures will be offer.

Cathy says entertainment will include roving musicians, street performances, face painting and balloons.

Buskers from around the world will also be performing as part of the Nelson City Council Buskerburgoo Festival at the top of Trafalgar St.

Cathy says the section of Trafalgar St from Bridge to Hardy streets will be closed for the market, and upper Trafalgar will also be closed for the buskers.

She stresses that the day is one the whole family can enjoy with entertainment for the children and plenty of stalls selling items that men would like.

The market is about a 50/50 mix of Nelson retailers and outdoor stall holders, including people from outside of Nelson.

Nelson's Saturday Market in Montgomery Carpark will also be offering its usual selection of amazing stalls.
