An injured tramper aged in his 70s has been airlifted from the Motueka Valley.
The Motueka man was on a day tramp with a group in the Pearse River area.
The man had slipped on the track during the last part of the tramp falling down a bank and injuring himself, said a Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter spokesman.
An intensive care paramedic was winched into the bush track and treated him for his injuries.
The man was secured in a specialist winching stretcher and both were winched into the helicopter. He was flown to Nelson Hospital at 5.30pm.
