A man trapped when a hiab truck rolled on him has been rescued.
The 45-year-old Westport man had been working loading the truck with marquee equipment this morning following a wedding on a farm at Mokihinui on the West Coast, north of Westport, when the truck rolled on its side, trapping the man under the cab.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter crew was called in and its onboard intensive care paramedic worked to assess and stablise the man under the truck, while NZ Fire crew from Westport worked to stablise the vehicle and set up lifting bags to raise the truck up off the trapped man.
The injured man was freed having sustained moderate lower leg and foot injuries, he was then flown in a stable condition to Westport Hospital for furthur treatment.
