A man has been charged after the stabbing of a 53-year-old Nelson man in his home on Friday night.
Police said a 41-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and two counts of assaulting a police officer.
He has been remanded in custody until Monday.
The victim was stabbed at least 10 times at his Green St home in Tahunanui on Friday night.
"About 10pm the victim was in bed when a man arrived at the address and attacked him, stabbing him at least 10 times in the back, arms and legs," police said.
"The victim managed to get away and ran to a neighbour's house. Police were called and found the offender still at the address.
"After a struggle he was arrested and taken into custody."
The injured man was in a stable condition in hospital. He has yet to be interviewed by police.
Police said that the two men were known to each other. Offices completed a scene examination today.
