There was a piece of Nelson at the glitzy Oscars last night.
Former Nelsonian Diane Ward was at the Oscars supporting her husband Chris Ward who was nominated for best sound editing for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
She added her own touch of glamour by wearing jewellery from Jens Hansen.
Mrs Ward was in the same year as jeweller Halfdan Hansen at Waimea College. The old school friends caught up over the Christmas period in Nelson for the first time in 15 years. Soon after, Diane heard her husband was nominated for an Oscar.
Mr Hansen offered to lend her some pieces that would complement her black dress.
She settled with a Jens Hansen pendant, bracelet and ring. The bracket and ring were from a 1970s permanent collection on display in the store.
The necklace was part of the Jens Hansen Legacy Collection, it was recreated for the store's 40th anniversary in 2008.
Mr Hansen said he didn't often get to see people enjoying the Jens Hansen pieces after they bought them, so it was especially rewarding seeing Mrs Ward's photos from the Oscars' red carpet.
"When I see someone looking fabulous it's great."
