Nelson’s cancelled Weet-Bix Kids Tryathlon is on again.
The event, which 1900 children had entered, was called off last Sunday because of strong wind and rain. The organisers told them it could not be rescheduled.
However, now they have changed their mind and it will be held on Sunday, March 30.
Pierre van Heerden, general manager for Sanitarium Health and Wellbeing New Zealand said: ‘‘Kiwi kids in Nelson have spent months training to take part in the event and we didn’t want them to miss out after Cyclone Lusi hit on the weekend.
The event will run exactly the same as the original event with a swim bike run for kids ages seven to 15.’’
Those who registered for the original Nelson Tryathlon will automatically be signed up to the event and full refunds will be given to those who can no longer take part by contacting09 531 5080, before 5pm on Monday March 24.
Sport Tasman events manager Rita Merriman said they had been in touch with all the volunteers and suppliers involved and would be ready to help run the event.
