Should Tasman District Council contribute to the running costs of a bus service that runs through Richmond?
An online poll by the Nelson Mail has found strong support for the Tasman District Council to support the Nelson City Council-run Nbus service.
Last week the Nelson Mail reported that the Tasman council was contributing only $10,000 to Nelson's Nbus Late Late Bus service, despite Nbus serving both communities.
Of the 1065 people who responded, 76.4 per cent said the Tasman council should support a service that benefited its area, while 20.6 per cent said the Nelson council should pay for its own projects, and 3 per cent did not know or care about the issue.
The bus service cost $535,000 to run during the 2013-14 financial year. About $224,000 comes from Nelson's car parking revenue, $151,000 from its general rates, and $151,000 from the NZ Transport Agency, with $10,000 coming from the Tasman council.
Do you agree with the city council's decision to put a 30-minute limit on buskers' performances?Related story: (See story)
