A proposed regional motorsport park near Tapawera has the green light.
Adcock Properties owner Garry Adcock, driving the $26 million project, said the Environment Court had issued a consent order, which now meant the necessary resource management planning permission had been obtained.
"With this milestone achieved the flag has dropped and the park can become a reality," he said.
The venture, now known as the NZ Central Motorsports and Adventure Park, was granted earthworks and initial infrastructure consents mid-2012 but that was appealed by three neighbouring landowners and Nelson Forests. Those issues have now been addressed.
The 203-hectare site at Stanley Brook is 62 kilometres from central Nelson, located off the end of Olivers Rd.
Adcock hopes the site will offer a place for motorsports such as drag racing, motocross, sealed and off-road track racing, driver training and mountain biking, as well as adventure sports such as the luge.
"Over the next couple of months our society will put together a group of interested people to form a board that can focus on the best way to progress the establishment of the Motorsport and Adventure Park," he said.
