That harbinger of spring, the golden daffodil and a few other shades and sorts besides lit up the Hope Hall over the weekend, for the National Daffodil Society South Island Show.

More than 40 exhibitors were taking part in the show, with organisers promising all varieties of the much-loved daff, including some which were barely recognisable to the untrained eye.
