Newcastle United and West Ham United are used to contesting the FA Cup, but at Monday's Chatham Cup game there were many fans flying their English Premier League colours in anticipation.

On Saturday July 26 at Westpac Stadium in Wellington, West Ham United will take on Sydney FC at 2pm and Newcastle United then play the Wellington Phoenix at 4.30pm.

Local Nelson company JPL Sports Tours have secured 100 tickets to the highly anticipated football double-header bonanza.

With over 13,000 tickets sold, the trip that has over 70 people registered already, promises to be another massive weekend for the sports-mad tour group.

People from all over Nelson, and not necessarily attached with local football clubs, have joined together for the rare opportunity to watch two truly professional football teams in action.

Stu Reid, from JPL, said this is about the eighth trip the company has arranged over the past two years and each one gets "bigger and better".

"There are sports fans of all codes extremely keen on participating in an organised trip, and the response to this particular one has been fantastic," said Reid.

"And of course, when it's football and our own Jeremy Brockie is involved somewhere, there's always that little bit more excitement thrown in."

Reid said there are still some tickets available for the tour, but that they are "selling quick". Reid can be contacted at stureid@jpltravel.co.nz.
