A family of four wanting to attend either of the two Rugby World Cup matches to be played in Nelson could get change from $100 for the experience, but those wanting to attend the final in Auckland had better get saving.

Ticket prices for all matches in the six-week rugby extravaganza were confirmed by RWC 2011 today.

The prices range from $15 for a child at a provincial centre to more than $1200 for a top seat at the final in Auckland.

Nelson's Trafalgar Park will host two matches, with tickets in the cheaper category.

On September 20, Italy will play an as-yet unknown team from the European qualification group.

Tickets for adults range in price from $70 for the best stand seats, to $30 on the bank.

Children's tickets are available for category D seating and general admission and will cost $20 and $15 respectively.

The teams competing for the European spot are Russia, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Georgia and Romania.

A week later, Italy will play the United States, with adult tickets ranging from $95 to $30. Children's tickets are the same price as the first match.

Those wanting to attend both matches at Trafalgar Park will pay $165 for the best adult seating through to $30 for children in general admission.

Rugby New Zealand 2011 chief executive Martin Snedden said he thought people in Nelson would be pleasantly surprised by the ticket prices.

"Obviously, the price for a top ticket in the final is a fair whack.

"But when you get into the matches, particularly like those that are going to be hosted by Nelson ... I don't think anyone can complain about those prices."

The USA game was slightly more expensive because it was deemed a more attractive match.

What a stupid poll. Where's the option saying $30 is too much? The choices don't match the question. You need three options. Yes, no, and i wouldn't go at any price.

Those are very reasonable prices.

A pity rugby is so boring nowdays and a pity everyone knows we are in for about 9 months of media driven hype and build up to test an already over-exposed NZ public's patience with the sport furthur. I hope the ABs win but the players seem to not be as dominant over the other teams in the modern era and miss out on the important games.
