Giants to name sponsor

The Nelson Giants are poised to confirm a naming sponsor for the national basketball league season.

It is believed a Nelson company with no prior association with the team will take on the main sponsorship.

An official announcement will appear in Friday's Nelson Mail. Vucinic selected

Nelson's Jelena Vucinic has been named in the New Zealand women's basketball teams to play in the Australian under-20 state championships in Gawler, South Australia, from February 20-27.

Vucinic is part of a 10-player squad, with a 10-man New Zealand men's team also selected for the same event.

Formerly from Waimea College, Vucinic has also played for the New Zealand under-18s and Junior Tall Ferns.
