Athletics Nelson runner Josie Wilcox has signed a letter-of-intent to attend the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma in the United States on a full athletics scholarship.
She will receive a free education and compete for Tulsa's track and field and cross-country teams, starting in August.
Wilcox won a bronze medal in the New Zealand secondary schools road race last December and finished fourth in the New Zealand cross-country women's 19 race in August. She has run bests on the track this season of 10min 14sec for 3000m and 17min 41sec for 5000m.
She is the seventh Athletics Nelson runner to sign for a full scholarship to a US university during the past four years.
Mandy Russ is in her fourth and final year at the University of Nevada-Reno. Patrick Strong is in his third year and Matt Russ is in his first at the University of North Texas. Dominic Channon and Julian Matthews are in their second year at Providence College, and Dallas Bowden is in his first year at the University of Michigan.
Athletics Nelson distance runner Harry Dixon and sprinter Alex Jordan also have been offered full scholarships and will make their decisions about their future after next weekend's New Zealand track and field championships in Christchurch.
