Westenra double strike secures college victory

Henry Westenra scored both goals as Nelson College beat Burnside High School 2-0 on day one of the India Shield secondary schoolboys' hockey tournament at the Saxton Turf yesterday.
Nelson's second round win followed their opening 4-6 loss to Mcleans College in pool C, in which Westenra also contributed one of the goals. Scott Kearney scored twice, with Jacob Thompson-Laing also hitting the scoresheet in a high-scoring match.
Waimea College suffered a heavy 1-6 loss to St Paul's Collegiate in pool B, with Pat O'Connor-Leys scoring Waimea's goal.
Bethlehem College scored two wins in pool A, including an impressive 9-4 win over Marlborough Boys College, while Jared Nixon scored all five goals in Rangitoto College's 5-3 win over Timaru BHS in pool B.
