Cavubati boost for Bs
The Tasman B representative rugby team will have the services of Makos lock Tevita Cavubati for tomorrow's South Island Development clash against the Canterbury Colts in Christchurch.
However, the versatile Fijian international will wear the No 6 jersey and play off the side of the scrum for Tasman's must-win clash at Rugby Park.
Jarrod Aberhart and Ben Sadrugu will lock Tasman's scrum, with Cavubati joining Mitchell Thwaites and No 8 Fetu'uloa Havili as part of a dynamic loose forward trio.
Bay of Plenty wing Jeremy Cave also returns after playing for Tasman in their previous 20-15 loss to Canterbury Maori in Blenheim two weeks ago.
Following last week's bye, Tasman are now two points adrift of co-leaders, Canterbury Metro and Canterbury Maori, who play each other tomorrow.
So a win tomorrow will shunt Tasman into the top two and a place in the semifinals. Tasman had previously beaten both Canterbury Country (53-22) and Canterbury Metro (28-24).
The Canterbury Colts' only win to date was against Canterbury Country, but even in defeat, the young Colts team has showed attacking flair.
"They've scored plenty of tries against all their opposition, even when they went down, so they've certainly got that ability to score points," said Tasman coach Gary Stevens. "So there'll be a defensive focus for us."
The Tasman under-20s also continue their South Island age group campaign with a match against the Otago under-19s tomorrow, followed by the Otago Country under-20s on Sunday, both games in Christchurch.
