Keeping in touch around the region
Nelson Touch Association draw November 20-22ALEISHA HART
This week we’ll start with a round-up of how things are going around the region, starting with Motueka.
Teams assemble every Thursday at Riwaka and this season numbers are roughly the same as last with approximately 70 registered teams.
The Motueka version of Families in Touch will start again after Christmas, following the same popular nelson format. Keep it up Motueka.
On Wednesday nights the Richmond module has fewer adult numbers this season but lots more children taking part; all enjoying some really nice weather – unlike last year - at Jubilee Park. Touch is really growing in Richmond, with good numbers of spectators and supporters each week, and the schools getting in behind it too. Richmond traditionally caters for the more social side of the game, but that doesn’t mean the competitive element is missing. Some of the games are very close indeed.
The town module is also well under way with 105 registered teams plus 10 from the colleges, battling it out on Tuesdays and Thursdays in some close-fought games. Although numbers are slightly down on last season, many of the same teams are back, better than ever along with lots of new players learning the joys of Touch.
Families in Touch
A reminder that registration forms are available now for our popular Families in Touch or F.i.T module which starts on Tuesday January 15th, 2013. Registrations can be emailed through to firstname.lastname@example.org
- Entry fee is $70 per team.
- Teams will be accepted on a first in basis and numbers are limited.
- Entries close on December 10, 2012.
You will find the draw right here, every week on the Touch Page in the Sports section of the Nelson Mail.
Nelson Module and Junior Module cancellation notices will be posted on Facebook and on the local radio stations. Radio announcements will be after 2pm for the Nelson module and after 2pm for the Junior module. A reminder, any decisions to cancel any senior module nights will not be made until after 2pm. Please respect this and do not contact the module coordinator before that time.
We have started the season with a good base of experienced and new referees and it is great to see a lot more younger refs coming through and showing an interest in this vital part of the game. If you are also interested in a bit of whistle blowing, full support and training is provided.
