Fine window forecast for sold-out cricket

Good news for cricket fans, tomorrow is expected to be dry for the start of the sellout match between the Black Caps and the West Indies in Nelson.

The bad news for fans who don't have a ticket is they won't get into Saxton Oval. Just over 5000 tickets have been sold for the match.

NZ Cricket communications manager Joanne Perry said: "That's great news but we don't want to disappoint those people who are thinking about travelling in expecting to be able to get a ticket. It is a sellout and there won't be any ticket sales, they will be turned away."

The match, which will be televised, is scheduled to start at 11am but depending on the weather can open at any time up to the cut-off at 4pm.

With rain drenching Nelson today, fans have been looking skywards.

MetService meteorologist Daniel Corbett said tomorrow should be fine during the day with only a small risk of a spot of rain but more rain was forecast to come in the evening, around 6pm. The rain is expected to clear late Sunday morning.
