Kiwi gets her hands on gold sex toy

An online sex shop has sold New Zealand's first gold sex toy for a big figure sum to a South Island woman.
The 18 karat gold vibrator, called Yva by Lelo, was custom made by a Swedish company and flown in especially for the anonymous buyer.
The modernist sex toy sold for $2,229 and is only the second sold in Australasia.
Sexgear.co.nz brand manager Natalie Blakemore said the company had been "stunned" to sell the piece in the midst of the recession.
"This really is the pièce de résistance of all vibrators so we were surprised to find that it had been sold during a time when money is supposedly so tight".
"Every day you hear messages of doom and gloom about the recession, but we are yet to feel the effects."
The company had experienced 130 per cent growth in sales since last year, she said.
Ms Blackmore said the secret to the company's success was the growing popularity of buying online along with the privacy and discretion it offered customers.
"On a more personal level, we're fortunate that the products we sell make people happy and increase the level of closeness and pleasure in their lives.
"In these difficult times, no matter how tough it's been at the office, it's good to go home to a nice bed — and a little intimacy."

Wow I would buy it and put it on a shelf like a trophy to show off to all my friends!
This is seriously cool. I showed my girlfriend this and she now wants one of these amazing adult toys too! I see that there are cheaper options for the same product (just not in gold). I told her she could have one of those :) Great story to stuff; I'm with #4 / 6 & 7. Good to hear about something loving rather than the doom and gloom etc!
It looks like a futuristic couch!
#4 & #6 - ditto. Nice to read a fluff story such as this in amongst all the doom and gloom. Brings a smile to the dial.
what a crap article Clio- just because one rich person spends their money you say that we are not feeling the effects of the recession? get real. I know like 5 people who have lost their job in the last 6 months.
Jess #5 - maybe I could help, no problem at all.
I used it last night too!
In reply to Melissa #10 I've sold a few of these (not in gold though, they also come in black & white) we recommend them as more of an outer stimulator
You go girl!! I'm envious that my partner and I can't afford that much on a sex toy, enjoy and just think every chick in NZ is jealous!!!
