A mystery powder that sparked an emergency call-out at Wellington Airport has been identified as flour.
Ninety-seven passengers were evacuated from an Air New Zealand 737, after a white powder was found in its cargo hold.
Fire crews and a hazardous materials team were called to the incident, just after 8am on Friday.
The white powder was identified as flour just before 10am, an Air New Zealand spokesman said.
The passengers were swapped to another aircraft and headed to Christchurch.

@ warwick #3... bahahahahhaahhaha!!!!! Hardout!!!
FLOUR.....
Pretty much wasted the passengers air time.
The whole white powder things was always a nonsense. Because some home grown nut-job in the States decided to mail a bit of Anthrax around to some locals does not an international terrorist make.
This paranoia over white powder is ridiculous, like there is ever going to be an Anthrax attack in NZ. I'm surprised there aren't callouts to restaurants all the time about mysterious white powders on tables.
Warwick #3 pretty much says what I would say. Unless it was a very specific terrorist attack against those with gluten intolerance? :p
The smart bio-terrorist will dye their anthrax green to allay suspicion ;)
When is the world going to stop panicking about white powders?! Ok so some years ago a nutter sent some anthrax to a few people in the States. How does that affect us!? Time to stop over-reacting ffs
