Shatter-proof pints are set to be trialled before being introduced to British pubs in a bid to cut down on "glassing" injuries.
Two prototype pint glasses unveiled in London are designed to prevent injuries caused by nearly 87,000 glass attacks each year.
Made of glass with a resin coating to stop them from shattering into loose and dangerous shards, they will undergo intensive tests before they are ready to be piloted in pubs and bars.
Home Secretary Alan Johnson said he hoped the designs would end the horror of glassing attacks.
