Most circuses are known for their freakish acts, but one travelling New Zealand is becoming better known for its gorgeous ringmaster – dubbed by one reviewer the most beautiful in the world.

South African-born Sibongile "Bongi" Mtshali is the singing, dancing ringmaster of the Mother Africa circus which is currently in New Zealand and will start performances throughout the country on Tuesday in Hamilton.

Bongi arrived in the country this month, after touring Australia with the circus.

Bongi, 26, said she was flattered by the comment from the Australian reviewer.

Born in Mpumalansa, in the Sunrise Province in South Africa's east, she joins about 40 performers including contortionists, stilt walkers, dancers, acrobats and clowns.
