Shirley Boys' toilets crack under the strain

A brimming sewage tank at Christchurch's Shirley Boys' High School caused by the sustained wet weather deluge has closed the school early today.
Students were sent home after lunch when plumbers failed to resolve a problem with blocked toilets.
"With the amount of water the sewerage facilities built up and it was just a situation where we deemed it was safer for students to be home because we were going to have to close toilets,'' acting associate principal Sue Nesbit said.
Council staff came in when plumbers could not clear the toilets and recommended the school be closed.
"You don't want a situation where students cannot use toilets because the sewerage facilities are overloaded,'' Nesbit said.
"When you've got 1400 boys, you need toilet facilities."
"The sewerage tank was full, "but we haven't literally got s*** flowing," she said.
A handful of students who could not immediately get home were watching videos and using the toilets across the road at Marian College if they needed to go.
"I didn't hear many complaints from the students," Nesbit said.

Pah, they should be made to hold it in all day, teach them some self-discipline. If they can't do that then they really are a bunch of Shirleys.
