Loo racing is on in Putaruru

Loo racing is heading to Putaruru.

Usually people are racing to the loo, but on April Fool's Day in Putaruru they will be racing on them.

As a fun event the Putaruru RSA will be offering racing motorised scooters with a toilet seat on top, for punters to have a go on.

Event organiser Adele Motion said it was organised to let people make a fool of themselves on April 1, otherwise known as April Fool's Day

Motion saw a Cambridge man was hiring out the vehicles and thought it was just the ticket for the RSA's patrons.

"I had never seen that before, so I thought  we might as well give it a go," Motion said.

"It should put a smile on a few people's faces."

For $5 people can get on and try their luck on the seats from 7pm, in a track with inflatable walls.

Or if you just want to watch, it is free to view, she said.

Though Motion hoped the unique event would not clog up the venue.

She was not sure what the rules were, but she did lay some basic guidelines.

"No skids on the wheel, or the seat."

And the final push.

"Come on, what other time is it acceptable to see someone else on a toilet seat."

* April 1, 7.30pm. $5 door charge. Awesome prizes to be won for having a lot of fun on the loo. Putaruru District Services Memorial Club, 35 Buckland St, 07 883 8591.
