This is one couple who won't need to worry about a name change after divorce.
A husband and wife both named Kelly Hildebrandt, who bonded on Facebook over their shared name and later married, have revealed that they are separating.
Kelly Katrina Hildebrandt and Kelly Carl Hildebrandt first began exchanging messages on Facebook in May 2008 after the female Kelly, who was bored, typed her own name into the social networking site.
She found her male namesake and sent him a message. The pair hit it off, and the following year were married.
But while their similarities were obvious, they soon discovered they were different in so many other ways.
"She's a Florida girl, and I'm a Texas guy," the male Kelly told South Florida news station NBC 6.
"We really did come from pretty different worlds.
"How do they term it at the courthouse? Irreconcilable differences, that is what I would say. We gave it our best shot."
The divorce hearing is yet to take place, according to court records obtained by the news station, but the male Kelly moved back home to Lubbock, Texas, with the couple's dog in March last year.
"That's where all my connections are," he told NBC 6. "It's been really great since I got back."
When they married in October 2009, the male Kelly said he had initially responded to his future wife's Facebook message because he thought she was "pretty cute".
"She said, 'Hi. We had the same name. Thought it was cool'," he told Associated Press in 2009. "I thought she was pretty cute."
They shared emails and phone calls before meeting face-to-face several months later.
In a statement, the female Kelly's mother confirmed to NBC 6 that the pair had split.
"Yes, I am sorry to say they have separated. I am happy to say they have remained good friends and are both doing well," she said.
