Is anyone missing a bright green bunny rabbit?
The Waikato SPCA has it and wants to send it back home to its family.
Staff at the animal shelter have been left scratching their heads by the furry, green-as-grass animal, who was found hopping around on a Hamilton front lawn on Monday morning.
"A resident of Galloway St opened their front door to see a green rabbit out the front," said the SPCA's Jess Woodcock.
"They knocked on all the neighbours' doors but no-one had ever seen it before."
The two-year-old female rabbit had probably been dyed with food colouring, she said.
"It's perfectly safe for the animal, it doesn't harm them in any way.
"This little bunny has been really well-cared for and is obviously a much-loved family pet.
"We would love her to be re-united with her owners so if anyone is missing their bright green rabbit, or knows someone who is, we would love to hear from them."
Meanwhile, the rabbit is keeping SPCA staff enthralled with her happy disposition, despite being a little bit green around the gills.
"She's settled in quite well, nothing really seems to bother her at all, despite being, well, green."
Do you own the green rabbit? Phone the Waikato SPCA on 07 847 4868.
