When you have a winning look, why go changing? So believes a US teacher who has been rocking the same polyester shirt and brown v-neck jumper for 40 years.
Dale Irby, 63, wore the same clothes in every school picture during his time as a physical education teacher in the Dallas area.
It all began when he accidentally wore the same clothes for the school yearbook photo in both 1973 and 1974.
"I was so embarrassed when I got the school pictures back that second year and realised I had worn the very same thing as the first year," Irby told the Dallas Morning News.
Irby's wife Cathy then dared him to wear the outfit for a third-year running. He accepted the challenge, and has reached for his old favourite clothes for every yearbook picture since.
"After five pictures, it was like: "Why stop?""
He first wore the outfit because he had been told to wear something other than his usual gym shorts for the school picture.
Irby said he can still get into the same shirt he's been using for every photograph since 1973, as long as he sucks in his gut a little.
The school gym has been renamed in Irby's honour. The school principal said his legacy was teaching his pupils the value of good sportsmanship and respecting others.
