Timaru's next celebrity could be Milly the miniature schnauzer, as her story gets set to go global.
Milly's "mum", Kay Boulton, has written a children's book called Milly's Story, all about Milly's adventures.
It has been picked up by a publishing company with a contract to distribute it worldwide.
Boulton said the call from Australian publishing company Xlibris to say they were interested in Milly's Story came out of the blue.
This is the first time Boulton has written a book and she had no previous writing experience, apart from when she was travelling and sent email updates back to people as stories.
Her first thought was to write a blog, but the idea for the book popped into her head one day as she was writing down Milly's stories.
The book is written from Milly's point-of-view or what Boulton calls "third dog".
Her favourite story in the book is called "An Accident," when "dad" accidentally stood on Milly and dropped the gate at the bottom of the stairs on top of her.
Her husband was so shocked he stayed lying on the floor for five minutes after it happened.
Boulton originally had 20 copies printed to give to family and friends, but now with the help of the publishing company it will be available from 2500 booksellers worldwide, including Amazon, Fishpond and Whitcoulls.
