An otter eating an alligator is the latest image to emerge from the bizarre world of animals eating other animals.
The photos, taken in 2011, were re-posted to the Florida's Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge's Facebook page and show the giant otter devouring the hapless Florida alligator.
The post was accompanied by a comment from the wildlife refuge that said the alligator eventually gave up and was eaten.
"Yes, the otter eventually pulled the alligator up on the bank and proceeded to consume it, as evidenced by crunching noises," the post said.
"They were no longer visible at that point, but the alligator was done resisting when dragged out of the water.
"Despite their disarmingly cute appearance, otters are the apex predator of many freshwater habitats."
