It could have been a scene from a movie: an ambitious thief tackled to the ground after a showdown with a rogue band of male strippers.
In fact, it was a tense exchange between the members of the Australian male revue Thunder From Down Under, and an armed robber who had raided their dressing rooms in the Excalibur Hotel, in Las Vegas.
Thunder From Down Under is better known to Australian audiences as former Manpower Australia. Since 2001, the show has been permanently based in Las Vegas with the name Thunder From Down Under.
According to Las Vegas police, the armed robber was tackled by members of the show as they returned to their dressing rooms between shows.
It is understood several cast members discovered the man rifling through belongings.
Once confronted, he was then pressed from the dressing room area to a nearby courtyard.
He then pulled a gun and fired a shot into the air.
The man was held by the show's security staff until officers arrived.
One member of the cast was treated for minor injuries after being struck in the face by gunshot debris during the incident.
The alleged thief was jailed in Las Vegas. Police said he appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine.
He has not been named.
