Three hundred packs of herbal highs have been seized by Queenstown police after a tip.
Detective Matt Jones said after receiving a call from a member of the public about 300 individual 2.5 gram packets of a herbal high called Pink Kush were seized on Wednesday from a person who previously held a wholesaler's licence for the product.
However, since the Psychoactive Substances Bill was introduced last Thursday, the synthetic highs entered a legal grey zone where those who held wholesale or retail licences to deal in the substances had a 14-day timeframe to hand them over to police or the Ministry of Health.
"He has not committed a criminal offence, However, I would have expected him to have returned the products sooner," Jones said. It was likely the highs would be destroyed at the station in the same manner as marijuana, a station officer said.
