The Invercargill woman battling in court to keep her cats can now be named.
She is Averil Maree Gardiner.
Gardiner faces charges of failing to reduce the number of animals and creating a nuisance under the Health Act 1956.
She previously had interim name suppression but this was lifted this afternoon.
It is alleged Gardiner owns 27 cats. Under new bylaws introduced by the Invercargill City Council, Gardiner must reduce the number of cats to three.
Gardiner, who has pleaded not guilty, will appear in court again on July 16.
