A stand-off between the Southern District Health Board and its mammographers could bring the region's breast-screening service to a standstill, reports say.
The technicians this week declined to accept positions with new provider Pacific Radiology Group because that would mean foregoing redundancy payments.
Association of Professionals and Executive Employees spokesman Rhys Walters told the Otago Daily Times the issue was clear-cut and the health board was in breach of contract.
The breast-screening contract has been awarded to another provider after the board opted out of it, and the board should now pay out employees' entitlements, he said.
