A toddler was taken to Dunedin Hospital by helicopter following a car crash about 8km south of Balclutha this morning.

Detective Sergeant Stan Leishman said the driver of a northbound car lost control on black ice and slid into a southbound vehicle about 7am. There were three people in the northbound car and one in the other vehicle.

The toddler suffered moderate injuries and the other three people were shaken up, Leishman said.

A black poodle called Bonnie was missing following the crash, Leishman said.

Should the fireworks show become an annual event?

I don't see why not. It's a fun, safe way to enjoy a good show.

At $30 it's just another money-making exercise for someone.
