Apprentice Josh Oliver

Waikato apprentice Josh Oliver has seven rides at Riverton on Saturday.

Five of his mounts are prepared by visiting south Auckland trainer Sean Cameron, while Winton horseman John Phillips has booked him to ride King Prawn in the Riverton Cup.

Oliver, 19, is apprenticed to Te Awamutu trainers Keith and Brendon Hawtin. The best of his 29 wins came on John Gray in last year's Te Awamutu Cup.

During the summer Oliver broke a wrist when his horse clipped a heel, slipped and fell in a race at Rotorua.

The teenager is riding at Ellerslie on Monday.
