Person rescued from Southland house fire
An elderly person has been pulled from a house fire in Southland suffering smoke inhalation.
Fire safety officers are investigating the fire in Winton after a call about 10.40am.
A fire service spokesman said the house was well ablaze when the three fire trucks arrived.
The elderly person was in shock but was well enough to not require hospitalisation.
The cause of the fire had not been determined.
