The Cromwell Town and Country Club is facing an "uprising", with a vote of no confidence in the committee on the table.
According to a public notice in The Southland Times on Saturday, a meeting has been called at the clubrooms at 10am next Sunday. The only items listed on the agenda is to vote on a motion of no confidence in the committee.
However, no-one was saying yesterday who had called for the vote.
The Southland Times understands the club has had a shake-up during the past month, with president Mike Cahill among the committee members who have resigned.
Club managers Carolyn and Duncan McMillan were let go two weeks ago.
Replacement manager Jock McGregor said the terms of his contract prevented him from speaking about the vote of no confidence.
"It's just one of those things," he said.
Several people involved in the club, including new president Allan Rickard and Mr Cahill, refused to comment.
However, one source said the club had faced an uprising from members since the restructuring.
"It was the way the committee did things," the source said, but declined to clarify what that meant.
The club, which has a restaurant and bar in Melmore Terrace, has about 1000 members.
The most recent available figures show it made a $21,784 surplus in the 2007-08 financial year.
